Cleveland – Welding education institutions can take a big step toward developing the next generation of certified welders by becoming a Lincoln Electric Educational Partner Schools (LEEPS).

Lincoln Electric and the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) have joined forces to provide the curriculum and learning management resources necessary for benchmarking and standardizing welding performance.

“There’s only one Lincoln Electric welding school in the world,” says Dan Klingman, Lincoln Electric’s Manager of Educational Programming. “Since 1917, we have put our stamp on education, making sure our programs not just meet, but exceed, high industry standards and the quality welding we stake our name on. The LEEPS program is our latest effort to build a bridge between welding education and industry and deliver a skilled and knowledgeable generation of new welders to the field.”

Designed for institutions looking to offer a full slate of stackable welding certifications focused on career preparation, the LEEPS program combines a comprehensive set of instructional tools, resources and the support, including some e-learning formats, needed to meet today’s welding challenges. LEEPS institutions have access to these resources plus a vital Train the Trainer program for educators to ensure welding students are receiving the right skills training backed by the deepest industry knowledge.

Required for all certification plans, the LEEPS Train the Trainer course tests and endorses instructors on their welding knowledge and hands-on skills. The program provides a detailed, step-by-step overview of the NC3 curriculum and learning management tools. Participants have the choice of attending classes in person or virtually via Zoom conferencing.

Because the program delivers standardized curriculum to any institution and requires educators to take part in the Train the Trainer program before they can start teaching the curriculum, students graduating from a LEEPs program are assured to come onto the job with a high-quality education that has the Lincoln Electric touch.
